The solution of the oldest problem of legal status of the Caspian Sea is investigated in the article. Historical and modern views on legal status of the Caspian Sea and importance of its decision are generalized. The essence of the available problems on permission of controversial issues and disagreements by definition of legal status of the Caspian Sea from the states entering the Caspian Basin is disclosed. Importance of the Caspian Sea in development trade and economic and business of communications of the countries entering the Caspian Basin - Russia, Kazakhstan, Iran, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan is analysed. The end of controversial issues between it the countries on division of borders of territorial waters and development of fields of hydrocarbons is put. Especially division of borders of oil and gas fields was alarming and this agreement accurately divided territorial borders. Obtaining legal status promotes an intensification of development of economic and trade relations of the countries of the Caspian Basin and creates the serious potential of development of the international transport corridor and routes. Are proved and estimated the potential of lying of the pipeline of oil and gas on the Trans-Caspian project to the world markets, first of all, on the European markets. The revealing prospects and positive advantages of final definition of legal status of the Caspian Sea are given.
